The Rockharbor Institute was created to train and equip the next generation of Church leaders.

The Program

The RH Institute is designed for those 21 and older who believe they are called to full time ministry. At least some college is preferred, but not necessary to be considered. We are seeking those who can articulate a clear call to ministry, have worked or volunteered in meaningful ways, and who are open to however the Lord may be leading them.

FAQs

What is the time commitment for the RH Institute?

The program runs September - July, and Residents are expected to put in 25 hours per week (not including reading/homework)

Do Residents get paid?

Yes. We pay our Residents a fixed stipend of $1500/month.

Do you provide housing?

We will do our best to help coordinate a host home for non-local Residents who need a place to stay on a case-by-case basis.

What resources are provided?

We will provide all books/materials needed for coursework, an ESV Study Bible, and a never-ending supply of good coffee in the lobby. Residents must provide their own laptop/tablet to take notes and complete assignments.

Can I work another job while being a part of the RH Institute?

Yes. We believe we offer a fair and competitive stipend for the work required, but we recognize that - depending on your current life situation - you may have to seek additional income to cover your expenses. We do, however, ask that the Institute be your primary work priority and that you would adjust your other work schedules around the times you need to be here.

Is the RH Institute accredited or affiliated with a university or college?

At this point, we are not accredited and cannot offer college credit for our program. We provide great instruction and a very valuable year of hands-on experience that looks great on a resume. We will also do all that we can to help Residents with job-placement upon graduation, though we obviously can’t guarantee full-time employment following the program.

Is the RH Institute a pathway to joining the Rockharbor Church staff?

The Institute is not a guaranteed onramp to joining our staff team and should not be viewed as such. There will certainly be situations where a student is hired onto our team after their residency, but students should not join with the expectation that it will lead to a permanent role on staff.

Summer Internship

The RH Institute also offers a 10-week summer internship designed for those who are just beginning to explore a call to vocational ministry. This program is open to high school graduates and older and runs from June through mid-August.

Interns will receive regular discipleship and instruction from our Internship Director, and will also serve under a Supervisor in a particular ministry area. The hours are typically about 15 hours per week, with the potential to serve at one or more summer camps, depending on gifting, availability, and area of ministry.

Our Summer Internship is a paid position. Interns receive a flat stipend of $200/week with a camp bonus paid at the end of the summer based on how many camps each intern worked.
