We're excited to share some awesome news from Feed the City! This was a huge success, and we couldn't have done it without generous incredible support of our amazing church body. Feed the City is a yearly local outreach project where we partner with the Meridian Food Bank and support families in need within our community. For two weeks we bring in donations from Rockharbor attendees and we are always amazing by the support shown.
Another amazing aspect of Feed the City is watching students from The Bridge and their parents standing outside of Albertsons stores, giving up a few hours to serve together. As customers walked in each student and parent would share with them why we are collecting food and give them a card with the items needed along with an invitation to our services here at Rockharbor. This creates amazing conversation for families to talk about the importance of serving and loving the way Jesus does.
The result? An incredible grand total of 11,532 pounds of food collected! Just let that sink in for a moment. That's 11,532 pounds of nourishment, hope, and support for families right here in our local community who may be facing hardships. It's a testament to what can be achieved when we unite for a common cause.
Every can, every box, every contribution made a difference. Together, we've not only filled stomachs but showed God’s love and hope to so many people.
Matthew 25:35-36 “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
Jesus shares a powerful message about the importance of serving others, particularly those who are in need. He paints a vivid picture of a compassionate heart, illustrating the transformative impact of love in action.
As followers of Christ, we are called to embody this same spirit of compassion and service.
But why is this so important? Because when we extend a helping hand to those in need, we're not just meeting physical needs; we're also expressing the very essence of who God is, love. Each act of kindness, each moment of selfless service, becomes a reflection of His boundless grace and mercy.
Let us be inspired by the words of Jesus in Matthew 25 and let us heed His call to love in action. May we never grow weary of doing good, but instead, may our lives be marked by a steadfast commitment to serving those in need, bringing hope, healing, and transformation wherever we go.
